# GET /v1/current

> Single country for the caller’s IP (edge geo).

`GET /v1/current` returns a single projected country object for the caller’s location, inferred from edge geo headers (on Vercel, `x-vercel-ip-country`).

## Response shape

Unlike other routes, the body is one object, not an array. On success, `X-Request-Country` is the detected alpha-2 code (uppercase). Only `fields` is supported—no limit, offset, or page modes.

```bash theme={null}
curl -D - "https://api.reqi.dev/v1/current?fields=cca2,name.common"
```

## When it fails

404 when geo cannot be determined (common in local dev without geo headers) or when the detected code does not match a country in the dataset.

<Tip>
  **Testing locally**

  Send `x-vercel-ip-country: nl` (or another alpha-2) on the request to simulate production geo in tests or curl.
