# Introduction

> Read-only countries JSON API and flag CDN.

Countries API is a public, read-only JSON service in the REST Countries tradition, plus a separate flag CDN. There are no API keys or sign-up. Cross-origin requests are allowed.

## What you get

* Country records with names, ISO codes, currencies, languages, region, Wikidata enrichment (economics, development, government, and more), and computed metrics.
* `flags.svg` and `flags.png` URLs on every full record.
* REST Countries–style filters: alpha, name, capital, region, language, currency, independence.
* Capped list pages (max 5) instead of a bulk `/all` dump.
