# Quickstart

> Make your first request in a minute.

Most country routes return a JSON array (0–5 items per request). `GET /v1/current` is the exception: it returns a single country object. Use field projection unless you need the full object.

## List countries

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.reqi.dev/v1?fields=name,cca2,population,capital,currencies,flags"
```

Responses include at most five countries. Add `offset=5` (or `page=1`) for the next slice. See [pagination](/pagination) and [endpoints](/endpoints).

## Look up one country

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.reqi.dev/v1/alpha/nl?fields=name,cca2,flags"
```

## Caller's country (geo)

On production (Vercel), `GET /v1/current` uses edge geo headers. Locally you may get 404 without a geo header.

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.reqi.dev/v1/current?fields=cca2,name"
```

## Wikidata enrichment

Build-time Wikidata data lives under `enrichment` (economics, development, government, optional company, computed metrics). Stable ids `wikidataId` and `unRegionalGroup` are top-level. Use dot paths to avoid downloading translations and maps.

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.reqi.dev/v1/alpha/nl?fields=wikidataId,unRegionalGroup,enrichment.government,enrichment.computed"
```

## Download a flag

Follow redirects (`-L`). The CDN hides ISO codes behind hashed filenames.

```bash theme={null}
curl -L "https://cdn.reqi.dev/get/nl" -o nl.png
curl -L "https://cdn.reqi.dev/get/svg/us" -o us.svg
```
